Nicole Sullivan was on the June 10, 1998 broadcast of The Late Show
with David Letterman. In case you missed it, the segment ran about seven
minutes; Ms. Sullivan discussed the following topics:
Most of the segment was devoted to a story about Ms. Sullivan going bungee jumping. According to Ms. Sullivan, she was goaded into bungee jumping by a group of friends; she lied about her weight, but was found out when the kids running the operation weighed her. She did not, however, reveal her weight during the segment. Towards the end of the segment, Ms. Sullivan mentioned that she was going to be in a new series Baby Blues, apparently a television series based on a comic strip. She did not, however, elaborate on the extent of her role in the series, or even whether or not she would be a recurring character on the show. Finally, Ms. Sullivan claimed that she was slated to appear in People magazine's "Fifty Most Fascinating People" issue, but was bumped at the last minute.
On the whole it was not bad, although I was disappointed that Letterman did not spend more time discussing her career, the characters she plays, and her comedic influences. If he did, however, he would risk alienating a large segment of the audience that potentially knows very little or nothing at all about Nicole Sullivan and/or Mad TV.* Overall, the segment served its purpose, and although it was buried in the middle of the show, provided some excitement for Nicole Sullivan fans in particular and Mad TV fans in general as the summer hiatus slowly passes.

* Although Nicole Sullivan is not universally famous (yet), Mad TV's average weekly ratings in season three of 4.5 million viewers with a 9 share are still quite respectable.
